Largest Public Power Authority in the U.S. Upgrades Multiple Engineering Collaboration Spaces
The New York Power Authority, the largest public power authority in the United States, was founded to provide low cost energy to the people of New York State. NYPA's Energy Efficiency Program supports New York State’s goals for a clean energy future, with more than $1.5 billion in energy efficiency measures planned for implementation in the next five years.
The Challenge
Supporting its goals for clean energy, NYPA has built several fossil-fuel-free large-scale hydroelectric plants. Engineers, managers, and various hydrologists collaborate to support the development of long-term hydropower forecast models located within these generating facilities throughout the state, as well as various other tasks related to management of the facilities.
There was a great need for better communication for these engineering analyses to support the various NYPA facilities. When NYPA approached us with the need to transform 35 of their conference rooms with state-of-the-art audiovisual technologies, their current systems were out of date and insufficient to support the engineering teams need for efficient collaboration, consisting of Polycom technology which could not be easily upgraded. Much of the communication and network equipment was also at end of life. What’s more, the chip shortage during the Pandemic made it impossible to refresh the conference spaces with updated infrastructure.
Our Solution
We consulted with NYPA on new Logitech Rally Unified Collaboration Systems, designing audiovisual systems for 35+ conference rooms with variations on each room including cameras, displays, microphones, speakers, and PC touch panels. All collaboration spaces received full integrations with Zoom and MS Teams, making effective communications possible for multiple engineering teams.
Each conference room now has a single or dual 75” Samsung display and Logitech Rally bar system with Tap, depending on the room requirement. Our Installation team also terminated, programed, and tested all video installs and updated all firmware to hardware.
